Noemí Fernández

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Based In Los Angeles County

Hello, I’m Noemí Fernández (she/they), and I’m a licensed clinical social worker in California #97903, Colorado #09928262, and Texas #107902.

Background

I’m a child of immigrant parents, a first-gen college graduate, and I identify as a non-binary queer person. I’m proud of being raised in Southeast Los Ángeles (SELA), where I navigated various challenges and obstacles related to  cultural expectations, identity, and limited resources. My upbringing and culture are deeply important to me, and I recognize that these experiences have profoundly shaped who I am today. They continue to inspire my therapy practice.

Education

I earned my bachelor’s degree in sociology from UC Santa Barbara and my master’s degree in social work from CSU Long Beach (Go Gauchos & Go Beach!). Serendipitous events—too many to list—guided me toward a career in mental health care. I’ve provided care in various settings, including schools, nonprofits, sexual assault crisis centers, and community mental health clinics. I’m grateful for these diverse experiences, as they’ve allowed me to acquire a wide range of clinical skills.

Private Practice Journey

In late June of 2021, after experiencing burnout, I decided to pursue my long-term goal of starting my private practice. I left  my job and founded Stillness Therapy®, guided by my core values: acceptance, curiosity, duality, fluidity, openness, social justice, transparency, and stillness as a healing practice. My mission is to help and support women, queer individuals, and adult children of immigrants who are seeking clarity about their lives, dreams, and aspirations. Stillness Therapy® operates on the belief that self-awareness, though often painful and uncomfortable, is profoundly transformative. While I integrate evidence-based approaches, I view therapy as an art—a spiritual and poetic quest.

Hobbies

In my free time, I enjoy practicing stillness through resting, yoga (with Adrienne), and intuitive journaling. I also enjoy reading about astrology and spirituality, cooking, nurturing my plants, immersing myself in music and poetry, and spending quality time with my loved ones, including my two cats: Canela, a friendly orange tabby, and Blue, a timid Russian blue.

I look forward to meeting you.
